OUR STORY

OUR STORY

Lindsay King is Saulteaux, Ojibway and Mohawk and is a registered member of her father’s Treaty 5 First Nation; Little Grand Rapids, Manitoba. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is a Mother, Grandmother, Social Worker and Fashion Designer.

Lindsay spent her childhood between her parents First Nations of Little Grand Rapids in Manitoba and Mississaugas of the Credit in Ontario. She also spent some time growing up in Texas and Nevada with her mother and siblings.

Lindsay’s lifelong dream was to own a store and sell clothing. Her earliest memories in childhood are of being drawn to fabric and style lines. Due to non-representation of Indigenous people in the fashion industry, Lindsay did not think her dream was possible. She went on to become a Social Worker and foster parent and provided service to Indigenous children, families and communities for 20 years. Although her Social Work career and fostering children were extremely fulfilling and rewarding, she still dreamt of having her own fashion business.

Lindsay boldly followed her dreams in 2014 and studied fashion in Toronto, Canada and Florence, Italy for 3 years. Having never sewn or designed in her life, Lindsay was finally in her element and able to create the garments that she only dreamed of. During this time, she met the mentors and artisans who would help to bring her brand to life.

Since launching in 2022, Lindsay King has expanded to offer a range of thoughtfully curated accessories, while continuing to offer the timeless, luxury garments the brand is known for. Lindsay works with suppliers across Canada and the US who give back to their communities and support the work of skilled artisans.

The heart of Lindsay’s brand is to design with care and intention, providing high quality pieces that celebrate individuality and transcend trends while inspiring others to follow their dreams.

In an effort to reduce our environmental footprint and cut down on excess waste, we sell our garments through a pre-order model. All of our garments are professional dry clean only. Do not steam.

Hang your garment on plastic or wood hangers and in the garment bag provided with your purchase between use. Hangers should be sturdy and broad, so the weight of your garment does not stretch the shoulder areas out of shape.

In case of spills on your garment, blot immediately to soak up moisture. Use absorbent cloths or heavy paper-towel and do not rub the spill. Rubbing will spread the liquid and push it deeper into the fabric. Consult a dry cleaning company for what to do after blotting the liquid.

If your purchase includes genuine leather, do not store in direct sunlight. Take your leather garment to a leather specialist for professional cleaning.

Absolutely! We are looking to cast models on an ongoing basis for runway and in-studio photoshoots.
